Gennie Pickens was installed Department of Indiana President on June 10, 2023 at the Installation held at Indianapolis Marriott East in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Gennie joined the VFW Auxiliary Post 9820 in South Bend in 1995.  Her eligibility is under her brother Alvin L. Prince who served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam.

She has been active since joining her Auxiliary.  Gennie has held every office in her local and District except Guard and Conductress. Gennie has been a Past local President one time and a Past District President 7 times. She has held the office of Treasurer in her local Auxiliary for 20 years.

She also is a Certified CPR/First Aid Instructor with the American Red Cross, as well as a part-time bartender at her local Post.

She is an active member Lydick UMC.  In her spare time she enjoys making bears or pillows for families that have lost a loved one by using the clothes from the deceased and giving the item to the families.
